Jackson County, AL | Yeah, we've been told many times that Dekalb/Bayer sells germ plasm to other companies once they determine they don't want it. Generally it didn't perform well in trials so the pawn it off on a smaller company. Trouble for them is sometimes trials don't tell the whole story and some slip through. We've routinely had Croplan and Dynagro outyield Dekalb in the same RM and it's usually cheaper seed to boot. Takes a while to find those varieties so generally don't have many years of planting it before it's gone. |
