Cedar Rapids, Iowa | The solenoids that I've worked on before take about 30 amps to activate, then maybe 10 amps to hold. There are two coils inside. The bigger coil is only needed to initially activeate it. The challenge with running both solenoids at the same time is you might overload the ground wire. I think the factory ground wire was only 10 gauge, which is good for 40 amps.
Having a battery on the planter will reduce the voltage loss of the long wire to the tractor. | |
