Subject: RE: Seed production net bushel question

North Central Illinois
I've never grown seed soybeans, but grow certified organic crops for a numerous food processing buyers. They generally subtract FM and either dock for splits or pay a discounted price for splits.

If they straight up don't pay for splits, they're docking 1% of price (14ยข per bu if they're priced at $14/bu) for each % of clean out. A lot of times premiums have a way of disappearing if you don't read the fine print.

I have grown specialty seed such as buckwheat with a contract that specified that I would only be paid on lbs of clean seed. Price was such that I could be happy with that.
