It has been reported elsewhere that this ship has been having “ shut-down” problems. Electrical issues that the owner has been avoiding major repair efforts. Not sure how old it is. The life-expectancy of sea-going vessels is said to be 30 years.
“ IF” it is nearing that 30-year mark, then likely the owner is short-shrifting maintenance. In this case, a costly mistake.
Just looked at Marine Insight website: not much info available there. BBC website has best info: maps/pics… indicates ship was built in South Korea for Greek owners. Leased to Maersk.

The only credible report about electrical issues I could come up with was in regard to gauges, something that would not appear that critical.
