What do you mean can't work with it? In sms once saved as a boundary layer in the tree you should be done. It does need saved as the "field boundary" or "set boundary" or device setup won't export it. Expand the tree to the very lowest level for the boundary (red/green box) and right click and hit Set As Field Boundary. Now your boundary will show in the preview window when you click on the FIELD NAME level in the tree. Run the device setup and you're good.
