New Castle, PA | Probably not an answer to your question , but here is what happened here . This was in the 1800's . Two brothers each owned a farm next to my grandfather ,each containing 100 acres as they were both revolutionary war land grants as was this place also. One brother had 8 boys and left each 12 1/2 acres and had a map attached to his will outlining which son got what 12 1/2acres . 3 sons sold their 12 1/2 acre tracts to my grandfather whose property adjoined . We still own those 37 1/2 acres today. The other brother had 7 boys and left each 14 +/- acres each and a corresponding map outlining who got what . 3 brothers sold their tract to the adjoining land owner on the opposite property side from my grandfather and my grandfather ended up with the remaining acreage that we still own except for a small portion that was donated for a cemetery . So I guess family disputes are nothing new | |
