West Central Indiana
I'm on the same path as you thinkstoomuch.

I live in west central Indiana and have thought about these heavy harrows (the ones with the big long coil tines) a lot the last 2 years. I try to no-till the bulk of my corn acres straight into soybean residue. Last 3 or 4 years bean yields have been 70+ bpa. I have a Deere combine with a powercast tail board so I get the residue chopped pretty finely.

From the bulk of the responses on here it sounds like if I'm wanting to help redistribute/loosen the residue/smooth up the top inch/ and dry the damp top couple of inches out.....these heavy harrows would perform poorly in this situation? I have lots of HEL ground with grass waterways in them. I have never seen many videos on YouTube where they are crossing a grass waterway.

Does anyone here think they would perform in the spring in untouched soybean residue?
