central - east central Minnesota - | rpron - 3/28/2024 22:42 I am suprised that the goverment hasn't found some rare plant or bug and shut it down. I think it was Offut farms was doing the same thing in Central Minnesota. State or the DNR shut them down.. I don't remember the details. Didn't shut them down for clearing - DNR / State stopped issuing them irrigation permits for pumping water out of the ground. The ground they cleared or bought for farming, some was timber land purchased from potlatch and a few other timber barrens. So it was being clear cut every 20 yrs or so for pulp production. The big issue was the development of wells for irrigation. In an area full of 10,000 lakes and the towns didn't want RDO in their back yard (I have no opinion either way) . . . . . |
