WC IL
We sent a padded mailer to son in Louisiana in mid January, got it back mid February as undeliverable. Hand written address was correct and readable and the package was undamaged. Placed in back in the mail with a label we made on the computer thinking maybe the scanner couldn't read the 3/4" tall letters made with a Sharpie., put back in on February 19. They haven't received it yet.
Mailed a check to our accountant on February 13, they called us March 5 wondering if we had forgotten to mail it. Called yesterday that they had received it.
Mailed a birthday card to a neighbor who lives 300 yards away, they were doing a card shower for her 85th birthday. Took 17 days to get there.
Could give plenty of other examples of first class mail taking 2-8 weeks to arrive. 7 days to get to a business 6 miles away is about as good as it gets anymore. Of course it has to go on at least a 200 mile ride to get there, if it doesn't get sent farther away. Last return receipt letter I mailed took 4 weeks and traveled by my estimate from tracking it about 7,000 miles to go 25.
