In a nutshell, I would say if you have a field with one straight edge, use it for your AB lines. If the field has curved edges on both sides, you could make a curved AB line and follow it all the way across the field and every pass would be identical with curves until you reach the other side. In small areas that might be acceptable.

If both sides of the field are curved but you want the majority of the passes in the middle to be straight You might as well set a straight AB line and expect some overlap or gaps. This is a great example of the benefits of section control.
