NW IA | You may want to take a short trip over to Sanborn, IA and visit the Vander Haag truck museum. I've always wanted to go see it myself but haven't made it yet but it's supposed to be excellent.
The air museum in Sioux City could be a chance to stretch your legs on the way through. You'd be about 1.5 hours to okoboji from there. It's near Sioux Gateway airport.
Woodbury county fair is the first week of August in Moville IA. One of the largest county fairs in Iowa.
LeMars IA would also be a good stop for some ice cream and they have an excellent Farm toy store downtown.
Okoboji will be busy if the weather is nice.
