| I went through one in Iowa.
It was a waste of time. I don't even think my lawyer came out on the deal! I am not joking either.
We had made, and had approved, several offers to buy out the other party. She always backed out.
We took her to court to force a sale and prevailed.
She claimed to not understand the process and the court would not enforce the sale.
I bet one could spend $50,000 on one any more.
We finally got her to settle as her husband died and she needed to clear up the estate.
If I had it to do over I would have just paid the full taxes for 7 years, paid the upkeep for that time period and used it like my own.
I think at that time I could have gotten clear title under adverse possession.
We were most of the way there any way when she offered to settle. | |
