southwest minn | Judge sets it - no way to predict. Maybe say they are worth 100k / year each ; 2,000 work hrs in a year = $50/hr. But I would expect more like $100/hr. for part time work. [ x 3]. + out of pocket expenses of referees; + necessary other consultants such as appraisers and surveyors, if referees decide they need them to help. Biggest cost is your attorney. This will not be done within one year. Sometimes someone appeals the judge's decision. Another 6-9 months. Appeal fees.
Settlement out of court is far preferred, but if you can't; you can't. If both sides knew the delay and cost when they began, they would settle first. I have experienced several of these. You could ask if opponent will agree to arbitration. Much faster and less costly. Slam bam, a few months. No appeals. | |
