nc ks | Too dry for even germination under a pivot. Do you pre water or water up? Pre water would have a chance to stabilize geound temp and make drier spots softer. Post plant water would be quicker planting, but some dry spots wouldn't get water for a couple days while the seeds into moisture would start germination immediately. Does watering up affect germination at all where the seed is getting a quick temp change?
On dryland we don't plant if every seed isn't in moisture. On irrigated we have never felt like we couldn't wait for a rain, but since much of the dryland isn't fit, we are getting a little antsy.
