Have a 88 Peterbilt that did the same thing. I changed the solenoid cleaned all connections from battery box to starter. I thought I had it but several days later same thing. One day I wasn’t by my self so I had my wife hold the button in and I hit the starter with a hammer. It took right off. Tried it that way a couple times and replaced the starter and no problems since then.
