It all depends on the size of the pump and flow GPA that your are trying to achieve. In a thread a week ago Shimmy said he burnt up a couple centrifugal pumps trying to pull from the front tank with the pump on the planter at 3 or 4 GPA.

We pull the front tanks with our pump on our air cart in hills and have had no issues staying back in 1984. As long as the line has fluid and not air it should pull it. We are running higher gallons and does fine.
