We have had a Nu Tone for 15 years. Your right, install it now before the house is done. They are really not that expensive compared to a good upright vacuum.
We have a 30' hose...I don't see that as being any different to drag around as an electrical cord. Our electrician made sure at the time to have an electrical wall outlet next to the vacuum outlet to plug in the vac head. The new powered outlets would work, too.
Get the most power you can. Not sure what size our is but it works great.
You'll like the vac being in a basement or another room. It is quiet to operate.
Design the system for the least number of outlets to reduce cost. Just measure 25' from the corners of any area if going with a 30' hose. (add a little for getting around furniture and etc.) We put our outlets kind of in the middle of the house and just have two outlets upstairs and downstairs for a house that is 70' from end to end.
