SW Saskatchewan
With apologies to Robert Louis Stevenson.

All my Kansas ancestors would be thunderstruck to hear one ask for a recipe for dumplings!

Next, someone will ask how to make white gravy.

PS For dumplings, the flavour is in the stew or soup and thus imparted to the dumplings. High fat in the dumpling batter so they fuel a hard working man in this type of weather. And never open the stew pot while the dumplings are cooking or certainly all things foul will happen- or at least the dumplings will fall and become heavy and leaden, rather than the fluffy ambrosia they are meant to be.

Good luck

Bisquick - what an abomination - hardly even can be called flour.
