Subject: paying child support in iowa?

NC Iowa
i am trying to find out about how this works. to make a long story short, my daughter got preg. when she was 17. fell for a guy, and went too far. being the stand up guy he was, he promptly dumped her. we found out about it when her prom dress didn't fit. i really feel for her, for what she was going through all this time with no support, and we didn't even know. so glad the jerk didn't just take her to 'planned parrenthood'.

later, after the dna test, guy started paying $25/mo support, and wants to be a every other weekend dad. he has been hiding income to avoid meaningful support. now he joined the national guard, and will be going to afganistan. i know he will be getting tax free war zone pay, and allowances that can't be hidden. thinking for a way to help my daughter to get more support from the guy.
what is the procedure? how offten can it be adjusted for income? does she need a lawyer to get this done? anything else i need to know?
thanks.

p.s. my grandaughter is almost 3 now, and a great joy to us all.
