Saronville, NE
I agree about the pumping and bottle-feeding. I tried to breastfeed my daughter, then pumped for 2 1/2 weeks until I was so exhausted and finally decided that my maternity leave was only 10 weeks and I didn't want to spend it pumping, but rather feeding my daughter w/ the bottle! They make a nursing/breast shield to help the baby latch on, also tried a little dribble of milk on the end of the nipple. But I HIGHLY recommend the lactation consultant route if your wife really wants to breastfeed. Our hospital even has a breastfeeding support group with baby weigh clinic 1-2x/week where you can go and nurse and get 1:1 help from the lactation consultant. Good luck, but hopefully your wife will not feel badly if the baby is unable to latch correctly or if she doesn't have enough milk! Enjoy this special time, all of you!!
