Install your old HD as second HD!
Assuming you have an IDE disk
All you have to do is following:
- make sure your power supply is strong enough,
- make sure you have a free power plug for your second HD or buy a Y cable
- reconfigure your old HD to be a SLAVE disk if you want to attach it to the same HD datacable (some pins to shorten on the rear of the disk)
- secure your second HD to the chassis
Now, maybe, you had to disconnect a CD ROM or DVD drive to do this. So check at the rear of this drive the configuration (should be SLAVE )
- assuming you don't have another CD or DVD drive, get a new IDE data cable.
- reconfigure your drive to be a MASTER
- connect it
NOTE: when running 2 drives on the same IDE datacable, one must be set as MASTER and the other as SLAVE by shortening some pins at the rear between the power plug and the data plug. Most drives have the pin layout on them. |
