Subject: RE: whats the difference Ortho / Poly

That is definetly not a dumb question. If you are talking on an organic chemistry level, there is a difference. If you want to know if the plant can tell the difference... well, there is no difference as it relates to fertilzer availablity. The above posts correctly stated that poly turns to ortho in the soil. So, the question remains... Why would you purchase orthophosphate? I guess because the salesman had a slick story. I don't really know the answer to that question, unless you are a cola manufacturer. I don't see how the use of orthophosphate (white acid) in production agriculture would possibly result in a net positive for the grower of commodity crops. Don't be suckered into the clear grade fertilizer sales pitch. Most of what I have heard is pure B.S.

Don't take my word for it though, check the link http://www.extension.umn.edu/distribution/cropsystems/DC6288.html

BTW, if you still insist on clear grades, I can hook you up for a tidy sum.
