I'm afraid John and I maybe hijacked Ken's thread a little, and I apologize for that, but John's question was directed toward the ability of an early hybrid to move south, which some can do very well. That's a result of genetics, not traits. Anytime you can take a 95-98 day MN corn as far south as Hwy 30 in IA, and get 180-200 bu. corn, that's not a bad thing, especially if you are filling a Sept. contract for a better price. The traits sure don't hurt, but the southward mobility comes from the genetics. You and I are on the same page. To reiterate for Ken, the short answer is, yes, there are excellent brand new conventionals available, and others that aren't very old. Just depends on who has them.
