Hanford, CA | Definately pencils here...yield & quality are better than most conventionals. There are guys keeping their conventional stand a year longer than they typically would, because they are waiting for the RR alfalfa to get through the Env. Impact Study. I think $7/lb is a little steep on your pricing...usually around $6.50/lb ($3.50 for the germplasm & $3 for the tech fee). I am growing some RR alfalfa for seed and will be putting in some more this fall (under regulated trait permit). I would suspect once RR alfalfa gets approved AGAIN, it will eventually dominate the marketplace after a few years...following suit of other traited crops. | |
