Renville, MN | I agree with the others. Alot depends on the quality of alfalfa that meets your needs. If you are feeding or selling to a beef cow market, relative feed value is not as important as it would be with dairy cattle. You may sacrifice a little quality, but you will generally gain tonnage by going further into full bloom. Do what best fits your market. When I raised hay for a cash crop in South Dakota I had some hay that was not worthy of being baled and had to be blown back onto the field. It can hurt your profitability if you know what I mean. | |
