Ashburn, GA, (very close to Heaven!)
Well, I used to work for Gold Kist, a major co-op player fo the Southeast in its day. As the generation of farmers who built that organization from the 1930's through 1960's passed on more responsibilities to the next generation, the co-op customer/owner changed. The times changed. It was hard for them to do business the cooperative ways of the earlier decades of their existence, a challenge to to oher co-ops in the country as well. I think the trends are definitely showing fewer big co-ops, and for continued growth of smaller, farmer owned LLC's, for example.
