Subject: No Hessian Fly problem in our area...

Morrisburg Ontario
We only drill into corn silage stalks. Since the real issue with wheat after corn is fusarium and it lives in the husks, the only option for our area is after corn silage. As far as I know, we are the only people in the area that do no-til wheat after corn silage, but we have had excellent results. Field yielded 100bu/ac last year with the same seeding date and after corn silage. Hessian fly, it is really funny because when I showed my house mate the pics, she asked the exact same question about Hessian fly. I know about Hessian fly, but have never experienced the damages from it. I expect that the date is end of September some time. 10 days before that date is ok for planting according to OMAF so I think we should be ok.
