Ammonium sulfate is the cheaper way to go. it's better apply sulfur in spring when the weath grow , because sulfur can be washed by rain or become not available for the weath because of the frost during winter
sulfur is very important in the N cycle and proteins making
sorry for my bad english it's a very technical topic and hard to traduce
