Central IL | Mandatory water restrictions now in effect. Wonder if putting wheat in was such a good idea?
From the local paper:
DECATUR - Lake levels continue to drop, and the city of Decatur will enact mandatory water conservation measures, effective Monday. The city has not enforced mandatory water conservation since a severe drought hit the community in 1988. The lake currently is 32 inches below its normal level and continues to decline at a rate of one-third of an inch per day, Alexander said. "At this pace, the lake will be another foot lower in about 30 days," Alexander said. "The lake has not been this low since the severe drought of 1988."
