Subject: Strange bean harvest so far

Jersey Shore, PA
Never seen one like this before:

Fields loaded with green stems, but beans are dry. Last week was harvesting in my shorts and shirt w/no sleeves and still hard to stay cool. So far drilled beans yielding over 60bpa with VERY little rain all year. Had some good rains in late Aug. Must've made the crop? Something new every year.

Anxious to get into the 30" row beans. I have a feeling that this is the year they won't measure up to the drilled beans. Never closed the row in most fields. Some still look ok, but I'd be surprised w/ 60bpa.

In some fields behind the combine it looks like I just mowed the grass(very green). I'll try to get the wife to shoot some pics of harvest.
