Lancaster County, Pa. | Scott, I agree! Beans planted mid june are as dry with less green stems than ones planted mid May. Cut the meanest beans I ever cut yesterday. I measured some 56" tall and I think they were crossed with an oak tree. Stems as big as your little finger and no give at all. If you got them past end of head they would stand up in front of the auger. If I ran the reel the whole way up it was still a foot down in the beans. Where they were laying over they weren't too bad, but still required more patience than I have. We are seeing some full season yields of 70 even 75 bu. and I cut a field planted after barley that went 61. But we had rain. I'd say it sounds like your doing real well for conditions. Are you getting any rain now? And what kind of corn yields? I have seen anything from 120 to 225 with average probably 170 or so. Brian | |
