Subject: Custom heifer grower vs Milking cows

Hello, I'm wondering what is more profitable, custom raising dairy heifers or milking cows? I ran a few senarios, A. milking/raising the farms replacements and B. raising replacements on a custom basis. Just based off a few guestimated numbers senario A made the most profit after feed inputs (growing not buying). Has anyone ran more complete, accurate numbers? Just wondering what the best venture MIGHT be...I have the knowledge and resources to do either.

Maybe I should also add I have 120 acres rented in row crops, 15 owned in row crops, 60 acres rented (from family) in alfalfa, and 23 acres owned pasture/row crops/homestead.

PS does anyone rotational graze raising heifers on a custom basis?

Tyler
