| I have a tandem straight truck rather than a semi but when we got it we decided to pull a pup trailer and built the hitch from scratch. The side plates are 1/2" plate bolted to the side of the frame, the cross member 6" channel and bracing 1/2 X 2" strap welded to the end of the frame. The fit is tight because of the brake chambers underneath and the angle of the bed dump on top. The penile hook is for the pup trailer. I put a diverter valve on the truck hoist hydraulics to dump the trailer, they happen to both be Scott hoists, power up and down. I used standard couplers so I could use the truck to raise a farm implement if needed.
The drawbar is a DMI "stubby" cushion hitch. I use the pup for long haul out of the bins but at harvest because the elevator is only three mile away, we pull a 500 bu hopper wagon. I have walked two of these wagons out of the field at the end of a long day. It hasn't broke yet.
