What did you have before the 08? Mine are an 02 and an 03 with the 7.3L Diesel engine an if all the 7.3's are like they are, they are about bullet proof! Toooooo bad they couldn't have made that engine meet emmision standards.
I have a good friend that currently has an 06 and was going to trade for an 08 but was leary about this very same potenial problem you are having and the fear of setting wheat stubble on fire.
