Washington, Kansas & Lincoln, Nebraska | Yup I read that. I guess the dang thing is under warranty. Like I told my service writer, if it blows up it's their baby. The trouble with finding a different dealer is that I really think mine is one of the most knowledgeable diesel dealers I know of.
Mine's done this smoke thing twice now. The first time it did it, I think it was white smoke, but the last time was definately blue, a cloud big enough to choke a horse.
As to priors, I hadn't bought a truck for 17 years. I have an '89 F-250 and a '90 F-350. Both of these are NA 7.3s. They are really good vehicles, but getting old like the rest of us.
We'll keep you updated.
For ZRJ and others with smoking DPFs, here's what the guys over on FTE said in a nutshell:
White smoke: water vapor and cold weather, nothing to worry about!
Blue smoke: too much fuel before iginition, hard on DPF, DOC and fuel economy - get it to a shop that will care for it properly ASAP.
Black smoke: cracked DPF - get it in for repair.
