Hey unifarmor, haven't seen ya around here lately!

Don't let anyone talk you out of liquid fert., once you get converted to it, you will never want to go back to dry. True, it is a little higher cost but that is greatly offset by the efficiency you will gain.

I think that I would place the tank on the drill so that if the tractor has problems, you're not married to that particular tractor. The loss of vision on the drill will be a problem like you mentioned, but if the tanks are on the tractor then you will have to look around them, too.

What kind of a pump are you planning to use? I've seen it done with PTO, hydraulic (my vote) or a gas motor. All worked well.
