Subject: Is their a better fix to those 6" upright truck augers??

neighbor was just over asking if I had a 6" incline bin auger unloader,

he uses the old style 6" truck upright auger with the bearing that always goes out. I was 'thinking' I read here some time ago that somebody had figured out a better way to get those to run longer without the bearing going out!!??

Do I remember correctly or am I imagining things??

I asked why not put a 8 or 10 " unload in and forget the upright,,,he said the bin doesnt have any floor(air) and costs alot to do all that. He would need a floor, unload, and the whole thing. He only stores beans in it and said he really doesnt need the air to it!! IF he were to do all that he would rather move the bin entirely!!(a few feet). AND he is close to retirement.

I suggested cutting a hole in the side and sticking in one of MY 8" unloaders and call it a day,,,would need some 8" tube to do that tho!!

Is there a way to 'FIX' his truck auger so the bearing isnt out(becomes reliable??)??(Then he loads a grain cart and calls a truck for the rest!!) Or hauls it to town with a small truck!!
