I have welded a few cracks in 4800 baler with no problems. There were some other cracks that had been welded by the previous owner and none had rebroke last I looked. Just use 70,000# wire and you should be fine.
Personally I'd skip the BaleSkis. I thought about a set, will be alot harder to spot new cracks with them in.
