Texas/New Mexico Stateline | I was thinking it would turn the engine backwards. Why not? I have heard of a guy doing that with a pickup with a standard transmission. The worst thing I think would be the oil pump turning backwards. No oil pressure.
Edit: I know engines can turn backwards. I have seen it over and over if you shut of an irrigation engine with too much head of water, and no ratchet, it will spin backwards. Pumping oily fumes out the air filter.
Engine spinning in reverse:
Normally......................................................in reverse
Exhaust stroke, exhaust valve open, piston going down-air drawn in
Power stroke, valves closed, piston going up-becomes compression
etc.
