If you go with the fabric covered (Aeroquip sp? or Gates) truck air brake hose there are several considerations

Which type of hose? There are two. Thin and thick wall. Type 1 or type two. Thin wall should be ok.

Get reusable ends. Which is to say field installable ends. I think they are all that way now but don't get the old kind that required a manderal and a magician to replace the hose.

Type 1 hose requires type 1 fitting. Don't let some gorilla auger a type 1 fitting onto a type 2 hose with his hose machine and No. 2 brain.

These hoses are most commonly seen with JIC 37 degree or SAE 45 degree swivel fittings. You can train your eyeball to recognize the more pointy 37 from the stubby 45 in the male end. The female SAE swivel will have a notch cut in each of the 6 corners of the castelation on the nut. Recommended to get JIC only. JIC and SAE will mate to each other, as the threads are the same, (one exception there is no JIC 5) if the wrench is big enough and the gorrilla is still around. Forget the gorrilla and get the right fittings. Nice thing is one can buy a length of hose plus fittings and custom make, on site, with no special tools, swivel hoses as needed in corners ect.

For ease of installation, nice appearence and easy modification use JIC swivels on both ends. Will this be least cost? Not likely. However, might be very slick for limited application.
