Subject: Flexicoil meter drive on/off actuator

NE CO
I have a Flexicoil 2320 air cart. The actuators that turn on the front and rear metering rolls have always created problems. The part giving me problems is the solenoid that engages and disengages the control sprocket latch arm. I don't think the latch arm is binding. It seems as if the solenoid plunger either wants to stay in or out, depending on where it already is. If I get out and manually actuate it it will stay in the correct position. It just seems too weak. I've cleaned the solenoid and replaced them several times as well. After replacement, they seem to work for a short time. The shop people just say its a known problem, but don't have any real ideas on fixing it.

Is this really a common problem, and if so, does anyone know of a fix? It would be handy to turn the meters on and off where I don't want to spread fertilizer for example, without having to stop.
