| Having another serious drought here in South Dakota, and a few neighbors are interested in my corn for silage. I'm trying to come up with a price for the stuff. The easiest way, is to value the corn that's in the plant, but i'm not sure that many stalks will even put an ear on. I don't really like to give away the stalks as they help in a dry year to shade the ground and conserve water, but are there other losses that i don't see such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium?
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!
