Why are they holding the drone safety day @ the airport? Wouldn't some wide-open area be better suited? A local football field without wires? Anything seems better than a netted area.
Ron, this has to do with Kansas State University located at the airport here in Salina. The campus is really involved with the high dollar drones. They wouldn't even think about our 2 to 4 thousand dollar drones. I attended a meeting a couple of years ago when a instructor put on a presentation and mainly had to do with crop scouting, these were BIG drones. Also another reason they are located on the airport is because the college is highly evolved in student pilot training ....starts with the Cessna 150. I farm next to the runways and you can sure tell the newbies from the more advanced. One time a newbie came in for a landing and you would have though that the plane was on a roller coaster track.....up down up down etc.
Will see how this turns out on Saturday...2 hours of schooling and a hour of flying "in the net"
