Central Kansas | I think the 'turds' you see are actually regurgitated pellets...a common thing for owls. They do not pick apart a kill like hawks do, they simply swallow mice, small birds, etc. After the good stuff is digested, they hack up a pellet containing the bones, fur, feathers, etc. They are rank when fresh, pretty much okay after they dry. They will fragment when handled much. I wonder if a big wet/dry vac held over the pellets would get them and just a little grain. Might be the easiest way to do it. These are probably barn owls with momma being a large white bird without ear tufts. You sure have fewer mice around these days. | |
