Subject: RE: a GPS RTK engineer for precision farming & drones

I have a question. How do you see RTK being cost effective for drones?

Over the long run I envision a fleet of drones spraying your field while someone sits at the tender trailer reloading drones with say fungicide and fuel. Something like DroneDeploy would keep the drones coordinated, spraying the parts of the field that they need to spray. Maybe they would be 40 HP with a 10' boom?

The biggest hitch to this plan in my opinion is you would need RTK to make this work and the unlocks for a bunch of drones would be cost prohibitive. Instead of spending big bucks for an RTK unlocked antenna and perhaps a cellular modem for one large piece, you would be 10 of those unlocked antennas and 10 cellular modems.

How do we get around this cost prohibitive issue?
