Subject: In-bin driers....how wet of corn?

For you that use in bin driers, how wet of corn do you put in it? Started shelling yesterday & corn is running around 23-24%. Been a few years since I have put that wet of corn in a bin. Normally corn is down to 20-21% by now. Bin we are currently filling is 33' x 7 ring, has a 10-12hp fan & drier & 2auger stirrator. So far have only put about 6,000 bu in it & figure we would let it dry a few days till it's around 18% before finish filling.

Also, what temperature do you dry at. Normally we set ours for 85º but turned it up to 105º today..

Haven't really gotten excited about shelling but wanted to open up a couple fields. Thought we had everything ready to go but but the universal joint in the swing hopper on one auger went out after a couple loads & today when we were greasing the other auger found the top bearing's seal was bad :~(

Corn is 110-112 day planted 4/12.
