Grand Rapids, MI | In MI it is reccommended to put on a few lbs of N on the wheat in the fall. When I was growing wheat we used to use 20#, sounds like the poster is thinking about 30#. The bulk of the N still goes on in the spring.
As for the 28%, i would assume you are thinking either just before or just after planting, so burning the wheat plant wouldn't be a concern. If you don't need to put any P or K down, I suppose you could spray the liquid, although I would think it would cost you a bit more than the urea. I have no idea if there would be any toxicity to the sprouting seed, thats the only thing I would be worried about. I would be interested to hear the answer though. On land that had regular manure applications, we used to add 0-0-60 to the blend with the urea just to add a few pounds so that it would spread evenly. We really didn't need the K because of the manure. Might be a good option for someone who already has the sprayer. | |
