Subject: RE: Another ethanol question

West Central MN
I live in West Central Minnesota within 35 miles of three ethanol plants. Every ethanol plant that I am aware of is run exactly the same as any other elevator.

Requirements around here are 15% moisture, at least 54# Test Weight, and I think you are allowed something like 3% FM. The point being that these are the same standards which apply to the local elevators as well.

None of the ethanol plants around here have dryers, so it is nice that if you haul in corn which is over 15% you only get docked for shrink, no drying charges because they aren't drying it. That also means that they don't generally want corn over 16%, but will take some over that moisture and hope it blends in okay.

The one ethanol plant that we are invested in cuts checks on Tuesday and Thursday. The other plant which we haul most of our cash and contracted corn into writes checks every day and you could have a check the same day if you really wanted it.
