I want to try some cover this winter. If only on areas I have problems with erosion. How late in the Fall have seeded oats and got good growth? And don't they freeze off over winter? I just need something to hold soil over winter.

We've been 100% no-till for 15 yrs. We just have few areas that washout. I like to try cover crop on those areas. We've put a few waterways. I just don't like the idea of having waterways everywhere. So I wonder if oats might hold in those spots.
