Subject: quick check on the clutch

Pittsburg, Kansas

After checking the voltage at the clutch if you are not getting any, if you can get to the back of the switch check the voltage there (a 12v test light prove will do) and see if the switch is turning on. If it is then there should also be voltage at the end of the wire where it attaches to the electric clutch. If not a broken wire possible.

It is all just a matter of chasing down the voltage. If you are getting it to the electric clutch then the clutch is bad.

Another way you could kind of check the clutch without any help with the motor off is to get a jumper wire. With the engine off and the electric clutch unplugged, touch the wire from the battery plus terminal to the electric clutch terminal. You should hear a click indicating the clutch engaging. If no click the clutch winding is burnt out.

Clutches can and do go out, but I give it a 90% chance it is in switches, connectors or wiring. Cheap fixes but frustrating to pinpoint.
